Hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Sozusagen ein Charakterbild der verschiedenen Flöten. Die Piccolo, die oben rumjubiliert, ein bisschen infantil und übermütig, die Flöte in der Mitte schon etwas ruhiger aber immer noch brillant und dann die Alt im Keller als Ruhepol. Nett.

Für die Flöte nicht einmal eine halbe Seite. Mittlere bis tiefe Lage, technisch nicht anspruchsvoll. Sehr melancholisch und irgendwie ganz offen (harmonisch gesehen). Das Klavier darf sich die anspruchsvollen Harmonien zusammenbauen. Ein bisschen Debussy würde ich sagen (aber nur ein Anklang daran)

Geschrieben für die neue Platinflöte (Platin hat die Dichte 21.5) von Georges Barrère im Jahr 1946. Mir hat sich das viergestrichene D ins Hirn gebrannt.
Pierre-Yves Artaud bezeichnet Density in seinem Buch "Die Flöte" als Anti-Syrinx und weist auf die Übereinstimmung der Anfangsintervalle hin. Das gleiche Attribut (anti-Syrinx) nennt auch Nicolet bei der Beschreibung des Stücks. In Density wird zum ersten mal das Schlagen von Klappen eingesetzt.

Anything one expects, reading Carmen in the title. The arrangement is a bit of a letdown as the availability of two soloists is not used very well. Seems more like a solo fantasy, changing between flute and clarinet.
