One of my favorite woodwind quintets. Five winds make a typically Bohemian nearly symphonic sound. Terrific and difficult.

Erstes Werk von Haas, das auch international Erfolg hatte.
Entstanden im Jahr 1929. Vermischt Elemente der mährischen Volkslieder mit Choralmelodik und Synagogen-Gesängen. Dazu kommt Polyrhythmik.
Rezension aus dem Neuen Wiener Tagblatt von 1935: Das Bläserquintett von Pavel Haas ist ein durchaus ernst zu nehmendes Werk, das sich durch Originalität der Thematik sowie durch wirkungsvolle Beherrschung der Satztechnik auszeichnet.
Uraufführung am 24. März 1930 durch das Mährische Bläserquintett. Erstausgabe 1934 in Prag (Sadlo).
