William Gordon
Born in 1791
Student of Drouet
Co-inventor of the so called "Böhmflute"
Swiss soldier of scotish origin, member of the
Swiss guard of Karl the X. of France.
After Karls overthrow, return to London
Since 1830 first experiments on flute mechanics
Had in 1831 two flutes
made by
Rudall and Rose, following his own
model.
His instruments are known for
the new position of the keys and holes,
which made a good intonation.
In 1830 or 1831
meetin with Böhm.
Died in 1839, after the
outstanding success of
building flutes had
driven him mad.
