His reputation as flute virtuoso was known beyond the borders of France
Frederic the Great tried to hire him for his chamber music.
Quantz was enthusiastic about his flute playing.

Member of "Musique du Roy", in which he played until his death.
Wrote operas, sonatas, a flute concerto and several pieces for two flutes.
