Studies Cello (Hugo Becker) and composition (Paul Juon) in Berlin
1929
Premier of the chamber opera "Der gefangene Vogel" in Duisburg is a first succes. In the same year he is employed as teacher at the academy for church- and schoolmusic in Berlin.

Professorship at the Berlin conservatory
1939
Head of the Reblin choir anddomechoir in Magdeburg
1943
Head of the Philharmonic choir in Berlin
1945
Again employed by the Berlin conservatory and head of the municipal choir of Potsdam
1963
Member of the academy of arts
1965
Deputy head of the Berlin conservatory
1968
Head of the music chapter of the Academy of arts and honored by the Federal Cross of Merit
1969
Retirement from the Berlin conservatory
