Born in Vienna Liechtenthal, Nußdorfer Street 54, the twelth of fourteen children (the fourth son)

First lessons from father and older brothers, afterwards from Michael Hölzer
1808
Choirboy at the court and pupil of the Academic secondary school and until 1813 music lessons from Wenzel Ruzicka, first compositions.

Until 1816 or 1817 lessons from Antonio Salieri. Year of death of Schuberts mother.
1813
His father marries again, from this second wife, Schubert gets five mor half siblings. In the same year Schubert returns to live with his parents.

Unloved job being assistant schoolmaster at the school of his father

Moves from the house of his parents to the flat of his friend Schober

First commissioned compositione: a cantata for the name day of the client for 100 gulden.
1818
Abandonment of his job at school to spend his time only on music. Piano teacher of the Esterhazy family in Zelesz. Quarrel with his father due to the end of his work as a teacher.
1821
First Schubertiade (This circle of friends consisted of several poets, painters and musicians, among them Lachner)
1823
Schubert falls ill with syphilis. Origination of the cycle of songs Die schöne Müllerin and meeting with Carl Maria von Weber.
1824
Second stay in Zelesz. Composition of the variations about Trockne Blumen for flute and piano, published posthumous and of the Sonata for Arpeggione and piano, today available in an edition for flute.
1827
Visits dying Beethovens together with two friends
1828
Move to his brother Ferdinand.

Only public concert at the Wiener Musikverein

Dead of the composer in consequence of a sickness of typhus and is burried near Beethoven on the Währinger Friedhof.

Schumann effected the first performance of the C major symphony in Leipzig
1888
Translation of his bones to the honorary grove of the central cemetary.
1908
The city of Vienna buys his house of birth to maintain it for future generations.

The premiere was played by Vinzenz Schuster in 1824. The Arpeggione was something between cello and guitar. Hold like an guitar and played with a bow but with frets. This edition for flute was done by Peter-Lukas Graf.
