First music lessons on the latin school (violin, viola, piano and organ)
Studies of theology in Olomouc

Continues studies in Vienna and takes lessons in composition from Joseph Martin Kraus and Joseph Haydn
Between1780 and 1785 engagement as music director of count Esterházy

Conductor of the Kärtnertortheatre in Vienna
1789
Composition of the opera "Oberon", which inspired Schikaneder to write the magic flute.
1790
"Director of the violin" of two imperial theaters in Vienna
He was freemason together with Mozarts, his personal friend. Beside him he was befriended with Haydn and Beethoven, who´s first symphony he conducted on the premiere on special wish of the composer.
Had an exchange of letters with Goethe, who asked him to compose a sequel of the Magic flute

Conducts at the request of the composer the Schöpfung by Haydn

Ich kannte die beiden Brüder vorher nicht. Das ist sehr schöne, ausgewogene Musik. Bestätigt mein positives Vorurteil gegen böhmische Komponisten.
